Newcastle City Council’s British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreting Service offers a booking service for the following:

  • British Sign Language /English Interpreters
  • Deaf Interpreters
  • Deafblind Interpreters
  • Lipspeakers

We have an excellent reputation regionally, and we are currently providing access for situations such as:

  • Health (GP, hospitals, dentists, opticians & other primary and secondary health services),
  • Mental Health (children and adults),
  • Education (nurseries, pre-school services, schools, colleges, universities & community learning),  
  • Police, courts, tribunals, solicitors' appointments and other legal access requirements,  
  • Shops, banks, estate agents, advice centres,
  • Work environment (meetings, interviews, presentations etc),
  • JobCentre Plus and Job agencies services (form filling, interviews, training etc); and
  • Our own council services (housing, social services, etc) 

We can also provide support for the following:

  • Conferences and Seminars,
  • Social events (Parties christenings, weddings, funerals...); and
  • Theatres, Museums, Art galleries, Cinemas.
