We introduced a corporate identity protocol for the council in December 2008. The protocol gives instructions for staff and designers on how to use the Newcastle City Council logo and information on our 'corporate style'. That is the way all council documents should be produced to make them as accessible to as many people as possible.
We are also developing an accessible communications toolkit for staff. It will give guidance to staff on how to produce publications in standard and other formats and how to arrange interpreting and translation as well as raise awareness of our accessibility standards for communication.
We are developing systems and relationships to support external communication activity and service promotion. We work with directorates and partners to ensure the delivery of communication plans and to assess the effectiveness of communications activities.
We are developing an internal communications toolkit accessible to managers and staff on the Council intranet. The toolkit shows how to communicate with groups of staff across the Council. We are responsible for corporate internal communications such as the Managers Communications sessions, Team Brief and our internal staff awards. We also work with directorates to develop their local internal communications.
