Newcastle ARCH Homepage
Welcome to the Newcastle ARCH website
We are the leading organisation in the North East whose aim is to combat hate crime and reduce community tensions. We facilitate a network of over 40 agencies in Newcastle.
ARCH is part of Safe Newcastle, the statutory Community Safety Partnership and Drug Action Team for Newcastle upon Tyne.
The aims of the ARCH partnership are to:
- Increase the number of hate incidents that are reported
- Increase the support available to victims of hate
- Improve action taken against perpetrators
- Reduce the number of hate incidents experienced in the city
- Improve agency responses to hate incidents
- Increase the understanding of hate incidents in Newcastle
- Improve communications on community tensions and conflicts
- Deliver training
We run a secure and confidential internet web based reporting system called ARCH. This is used to report, record and refer hate incidents by any of our partner agencies. All ARCH partner agencies work together to get the best support to the victims and to take action against the perpetrators.

Our work is acknowledged as regional best practice and has recently been used by the Commission for Integration and Cohesion as an example of national good practice.
ARCH is now established in Newcastle, Sunderland, Gateshead, South Tyneside and North Tyneside.
We would welcome your ideas and comments on our website for its future development. Please email us to let us know what you think: arch@newcastle.gov.uk.
